Flying With Kratom

The clothes are packed, the phone charger’s packed, and the toothbrush is packed. Hmm…what are we missing?

Ah, our wonderful batch of botanicals! Vitamin D capsules and Daily Wellness Gummies may not have restrictions – but what about Kratom? Can you bring Kratom on a plane?

A few things are important to look at. It depends on where you’re departing from and where you’re landing. It also depends on the Kratom format and the amount.

✈️ Kratom TSA Rules:
Can Kratom go through airport security?

Flying with Kratom Capsules & Kratom Tablets : TSA does not specifically prohibit ordinary botanical Kratom capsules, however, the officer at the checkpoint does have the final authority. You should verify laws for your departure city and state, states where you have a layover, final destination, and any counties or municipalities you will visit. Kratom Tablets are usually treated the same as Kratom Capsules. Again, Kratom must be legalized at your departure point, layovers, and destination.

Flying with Kratom Powder : TSA allows powder-like substances in both carry-on and checked luggage bags. However, size matters. Any container above 12 ounces (350mL) in a carry-on, must be removed for an X-ray screening. TSA has the authority to open or test the powder. If officers cannot clear this, it may be prohibited from the cabin. Be sure to keep Kratom Powder in its original factory-sealed and clearly labeled package. We do not recommend transferring it to an unlabeled bag or generic container. Pack larger quantities in checked luggage and make sure to keep the ingredient clear and easy to read (bring receipt if possible).

Flying and Traveling with Kratom Drink Mix : these rules are essentially the same as Kratom Powder. Dry single-serving or two-serving Drink Mix Sticks are allowed in carry-on and checked luggage, and they need to be kept in their original, clearly-labeled factory packaging. A few personal drink mix sticks should not trigger any special rule (again, Kratom Powders can’t exceed 12 ounces) so as your drink mix amount does not exceed this, you should be alright. However, larger quantities might require screening. If the Kratom Drink Mix has already been mixed in a water bottle it becomes subject to TSA’s liquid rule: a prepared drink usually can’t pass through security in a container larger than 3.4 fluid ounces (100ml).

Kratom Shots, Kratom Tinctures, and Kratom Drinks : Can you bring Kratom shots on a plane? Kratom Shots are generally permitted if the bottle is 3.4 fl oz (100ml) or smaller and can fit in one of your quart-size liquids bag. Liquid Kratom Extracts are also generally permitted if the bottle is 3.4 fl ounces (100ml) or less. It’s the bottle capacity that matters, not how much extract is within the bottle.

2 oz Kratom Shots and 1 oz Liquid Kratom Extract tinctures can therefore go in a carry-on – as long as they can fit within a clear quart-size bag. So, your Lucky80 Liquid Extract and KFusion Kratom+ Kava Shot should be good to go for travel! Ready-to-drink Kratom-infused Drinks such as a Wild Cherry Speciosa Soda (12 oz) or Golden Grove Blueberry Lemon Sparkling Tonic (7.5 oz) are not permitted. Drinks purchased after security may be carried onto the plane.

What about international flights?

Can you fly internationally with Kratom? Well, this is a bit riskier. Customs laws (not TSA rules) determine whether you can bring it across the border. A product being legal at the start of the trip doesn’t make it legal at your destination. Numerous countries also allow possession but restrict sale, importation, or products intended for consumption.
