Smilin’ Island Caribbean Style Sauces & Seasonings
Smilin’ Island Foods is a brand of Caribbean style pepper sauces/hot sauces, seasonings, and ketchup from the recipes of Cedella Marley-Booker. Notably she is the mother of the world renowned reggae artist, Bob Marley. Mother Booker was a singer, writer, and humanitarian who loved to give back to the less fortunate, so much so, that she created the 9 Mile Music Festival formerly the Bob Marley Festival over 25 years ago to feed the hungry; a donation of canned goods and non perishables is a part of the entrance fee.
Her legacy of love and giving is carried on by her son Richard Booker. Richard established Smilin’ Island Foods because it was a dream of his mother’s and her cooking is of his fondest memories of her. Richard has become a great cook himself and continues to develop products with his team based on what he learned in his travels and especially in his mother’s kitchen.
Our products are spiced to capture the “Taste of the Caribbean”. This brand has been in the works for over a decade and stemmed from the restaurants that were established in Jamaica. Mother Booker’s recipes is our way of bringing our home to yours as well as putting a little piece of the Caribbean on every table. Products vary in heat; the seasonings are relatively mild to medium. Sauces range from the lower to spicier heat level starting with the Reggae Ketchup, Sweet Samba (Mango Pineapple) Pepper Sauce, Mama’s Own Original Hot Sauce, Jamaican Red Pepper Sauce, Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce, and Mama’s Own Extra Hot Sauce.
Smilin’ Island Foods distributes from Miami, FL the long time hometown of the family in the US, and from Nine Mile, St. Ann, Jamaica where the family property remains. Guests can take a tour of the property, learn more family history and get in touch with the birthplace of the reggae legend Bob, and Cedella Marley-Booker.
